Use of Kidneys from Anencephalic Donors to Offset Organ Shortage

چکیده
Background: It is well recognized that patient survival and quality of life are superior with renal transplantation than dialysis. Organ availability far outweighed by the large number wait-listed patients. Additional stratagems sought to expand donor pool, kidneys from anencephalic infants can be considered a source organs, until now unexplored. We plan assess feasibility using for transplantation. Material Methods: Information about anencephaly, characteristics infant kidneys, ethical, social medico-legal aspects raised use these their procurement reviewed. Conclusions: En bloc kidney transplants provide long-term normal function after an accelerated catch up growth. They not subjected hyperfiltration since they have full complement nephrons. transplanted techniques currently available.

Organ transplants from living donors.
A. Survey of Transplantation Techniques The kidney is one of the few organs which can successfully be transplanted from a living donor with current techniques. Since a healthy donor can function satisfactorily with a single kidney, the removal of one of them for transplantation does not significantly endanger live.1,2,3 Removal, or substantial partial removal, of other organs, such a the heart,...
متن کاملTackling the shortage of donor kidneys: how to use the best that we have.
Shortage of kidney donor is still a major limitation for renal transplantation programs. This review focuses on the emerging practices, adopted to increase transplant activities, of expanding the criteria for donor and recipient selection without exposing the recipient to the drawbacks of a graft with inadequate nephron mass. Expanding the donor pool inevitably led to consideration for kidney t...
متن کاملA Lifetime of Allograft Function with Kidneys from Older Donors.
Strategies to increase expanded criteria donor (ECD) transplantation are needed. We quantified the extent to which ECD kidneys provide recipients with a lifetime of allograft function by determining the difference between patient survival and death-censored allograft survival (graft survival). Initial analyses compared 5-year outcomes in the Eurotransplant Senior Program (European) and the Unit...
